Helm at the stern of S.S. Newfoundland. Notice also the many boats piled high over the stern. Sealers had a great number of boats onboard and they were either stored at the stern or over the forecastle.
Mast, flags and other details. Notice the bucket or barrel high up on the mast. It must have been pretty rough up there, being the 'bucketman' or 'scunner' on watch, navigating the ship through the ice.
